I’ve been doing quite a bit of reading since quarantine started. Despite being an avid reader, it’s very rare I pay full price for my books. I usually peruse my local Goodwills, used book shops, or online discount book retailers like Book Outlet! I recently picked up a pretty decently-sized book haul from them, so I wanted to share the titles I decided to buy.
A is for Advice
No, I’m not pregnant! A friend of mine is expecting and I thought this was a cute concept so I threw it in my cart! I plan on writing her a little message on the inside of the book and gifting it to her.
I Heard You Paint Houses, Inspector Oldfield and the Black Hand Society, and Dirty John
The genre of true crime is one of my favorites! Most of these, I have no experience in so all of these will be new to me. I can’t wait to find out what happens and the complexities of each case!
The Colorado Kid, The Whisper Man and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd
I also love a little mystery, so I picked up two books by some of the most famous mystery and thriller writers! I’ve been on a Stephen King kick, so I thought I’d grab The Colorado Kid. As for Agatha Christie, I don’t have a ton of experience reading her books so I thought I’d give it a go. I saw The Whisper Man in the best selling section and was intrigued by the storyline. I’ve actually finished this one already so if you want to check out my review, follow my Goodreads account!
Midnight in Chernobyl, How to Build a Dinosaur, and God, War, and Providence
I’m lumping these three books together as Non-Fiction finds. While I love to get lost in a good, fictional story, I’m also obsessed with learning while reading. Hence, the wide range of historical topics I dive into.
Let’s Talk About Death and Love Where You Live
With everything going on, I realized how uncomfortable I am with the idea of death. I think I’m like everyone else in that aspect, but I like to be a bit introspective and I’m curious at to why the idea of death freaks us out! I feel like this could be a good intro into familiarizing myself with one of the most natural components of life. As far as Love Where You Live, I like a nice, light, fluffy book every once in a while. I am a Christian, so I opted for a faith-based book.
So that’s my little book haul from Book Outlet! I did have to include a few Amazon links because a couple of the books I picked out are already sold out! I guess that’s the price you pay for bargain book shopping. Other than that, I can’t wait to dive in! I’ll update my Goodreads account as I progress through these.
xoxo,
Morgan
